Beginning this month, Immerse is launching a series of posts from Kamal Sinclair about her research on ways to foster equality in emerging media, with support articles available on the just-launched Making a New Reality site. The project is supported by the Ford Foundation’s JustFilms program, with additional support from the Sundance Institute.

Take a look at this month’s support articles as well:

The production team invites readers to respond to each article so that they are able to mitigate blind spots, and intervene in systemic injustice. Want to join the discussion? Here’s how:

  • Clap for or respond to the first article on Immerse using Medium’s tools.
  • Over the course of the series, producers will also be inviting selected members of the field to publish longer responses on Immerse.
Interested? Drop a note to newreality@immerse.news.
  • Find them on Twitter at @makenewreality, or share news about the project with the hashtag #makinganewreality.

They’ll also be working to encourage dialogue around inclusion in emerging media across the field, on listservs, Facebook groups, Instagram, and wherever else people are talking about ways to shape storytelling futures. Got an idea for where the conversation should move next? Get in touch and let them know.
