DCS is working with Lutman & Associates to help the Wikimedia Foundation better understand the trends shaping the future of free knowledge as part of the Foundation’s 2030 strategy process. Over on the Wikimedia blog, Jessica Clark and Sarah Lutman ask, “How will external forces hinder or help the future of the Wikimedia movement?”
Through this research, we’ll be examining key trends that are likely to influence the Wikimedia movement over the next 15 years by homing in on five key topics: demographics, the future of the commons, platforms and content, the future of reference and reading, and misinformation. In addition to researching these topics, we’ll be conducting dozens of interviews with experts and stakeholders in relevant fields. We’ll be publishing what we find on the Wikimedia blog—stay tuned for updates over the coming months!
